Talking Aviva

July 20th, 2009

While Joelle and I were eating dinner tonight, we decided to see how Aviva would do sitting in the bouncer; she kept wanting to talk to us (err… grunt – but it was still very cute either way!)

(as with all of my videos, you’ll have to visit the actual page to see this in a blog reader or on Facebook Notes)

Aviva’s First Trip

July 15th, 2009

As a last minute fourth of July trip, we decided to take a quick trip down to San Francisco to see a couple of friends, get out of town, and see how Aviva did while traveling. Mission accomplished – she was quite the traveler – slept the entire plane ride down (we got lucky and had an empty seat next to us, so we were able to utilize the car seat), and most of the way back home (on Joelle’s lap). She also got to experience her first taxi-ride, train-ride, shuttle-van-ride, and bus-ride – quite a public transportation guru at such a young age!

Pictures, as usual:

Crown of Queen Anne

July 12th, 2009

This past weekend was the Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run and Walk in support of the Queen Anne Helpline, along with the Children’s Parade and Queen Anne Community Festival. We decided to get up early and walk it – which we were glad we did; the weather was perfect, and Aviva was an ideal participant (by that, I mean, she slept the entire 3.3 mile route; the stroller tends to do that to her!). Next year, she’ll possibly (likely?) be walking by this time – weird!

Rocking it out

June 23rd, 2009

Actually, I am not quite done posting yet. Two weekends ago was our good friend Suzanna and Aron’s wedding – it also happened to be the first chance we had to take Aviva dancing – she loved us moving to the music with her. We didn’t have the video on for most of it (unfortunately), but we did get a good video of Elana dancing with Aviva – watch how happy she is!

Rounding out the Picture Updates

June 23rd, 2009

Almost bedtime, so I wanted to finish catching up on posting some picture highlights, as was my goal for the evening. Below are pics from the last few weeks, including Joelle’s dad and stepmom visiting, Suzanna and Aron’s wedding (congrats you two!), a couple visits to the zoo (thanks Joelle for the great father’s day gift of an annual pass!), and seeing some friends at a couple of parties. Most importantly – there’s some really cute pics of Aviva in there :)

The Amanda Visit

June 23rd, 2009

Continuing the stream of photo updates, Amanda, Joelle’s step-sister, visited us the first weekend in June. It was fantastic to see her; Aviva really took to Amanda and Amanda to Aviva – it was great to see. Amanda got to experience Aviva’s first farm visit (as part of Kavana’s CSA program), along with a fantastic communal Shabbat dinner, and Aviva’s first exploration of Fremont; it was quite a lot of fun!

Memorial Day: The Jared/Elyssa Visit

June 23rd, 2009

Over Memorial Day weekend, my brother and his girlfriend, Elyssa, visited Seattle. We had a fantastic time showing them around, and having them meet and spend time with Aviva. They (along with Elana) even babysat for us one night – it’s still the only time we’ve gone out without Aviva for a night since she’s been born. Aviva got quite the whirlwind tour of Seattle with them as well – hitting Discovery Park, Folklife Festival, the Kirkland Waterfront, and more. More importantly, Jared and Elyssa were amazing with Aviva; she loved spending time with them.

Looking at these now, it is hard to believe how much Aviva has grown in the past month; she looks so little here!

Two Months!

June 23rd, 2009

Hard to believe Aviva is two months old already – time is flying, and also been keeping us very busy; so busy, in fact, that I’ve failed in my goal of regular blog posting with picture and video updates to keep people updated on how she’s doing. If you read Facebook, you’ve seen a constant stream of mobile uploads (plus, Elana is always posting, which is nice), but our camera has been very lax in pushing to the web. I’m going to correct that this evening, and do a series of posts to catch everyone up on the past month; after that, I should be able to be much more consistent in posting as it will be a lot less overwhelming.
